Amanda Jenssen

She was, without knowing it herself, my deus ex machina. Or close.Amanda Jenssen´sdebut album, Killing My Darlings, was sent to me by her record company for review. My girlfriend had just left me for another man and I was broken-hearted. So I needed consolation, and those songs of hers did the trick. Jensen took my hand, figuratively speaking, and escorted me through the grief.

Needless to say, I had to meet her. More than that, I had to write about her. She had become my fixation, a drug I was addicted to for months and I slowly realized I had to get rid of this obsession. And the best way I could think of was to literally confront her with my story, de-idolize her and get real. I mean, she was 30 years my junior. I could have been her dad.

I took me more than six months to ger her out of my system. When the story finally appeared in Scanorama, I felt a huge relief. Profiling her somehow brought her down to earth level and I could get on with my life.

But hey, look at those pictures, shot by Calle Stoltz. I mean, can you really blame me for being totally struck? And enjoy thisYouTubeclip – her first steps to stardom as an Idol contender in 2007.
